Title is meant to complement A Mother's Love. I probably wouldn't have chosen it otherwise. More like A Father's Creepy Tendency to Observe One's Son Through a Sheet of Glass Even Though Said Son Doesn't Know That Said Father Is Indeed His Father But Said Father Finds Said Son to Be an Object of Great Scientific Interest Because He Likes to Experiment on Him or Maybe He Just Convinces Himself of That Due to Deeply Rooted Psychological Issues That Leave Him Incapable of Expressing Affection Properly.
But I don't know if that would have fit.
So here's my Father's Day picture, finally! You'll notice I lied where I dated it. See if you can also spot the great big inconsistency between Hojo and his reflection that I didn't notice until I was adding finishing touches.
I was inspired by a scene in Before Crisis where Hojo is being "kidnapped" by AVALANCHE, but he really went with them willingly because they're making him an offer to leave ShinRa and work for them instead. They say they have even better lab equipment and technology that they're willing to share with him. Sounds great for Hojo, right? And he's excited about the idea of having better equipment and technology, too, but it turns out he was just leading them along the whole time and never intended to leave ShinRa. Why? Well, in Hojo's own words:

It's so sweet in its own twisted way.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactAh I remember seeing the concept sketch for this on TLS! <img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/i/m/i…" alt="
" title="imhappyplz"/>It turned out very wonderfully. The horizon line issue that Dacon and I pointed has successfully been rendered a non-issue by the finished product. The movement of the characters and the layout of the room are fairly well executed and give a great sense of depth.
I can also sense Hojo's twisted fatherly feelings in the pic, even without having to read the artist's comments for an explanation. Sephiroth is is pride and joy, and for him son is synonymous with lab experiment, which I agree, in a way it does seem almost touching, in a way that can only be Hojo.
I would have to say, that in the future watch the shading on the bodies of the characters. Hojo's upper body seems rather flat when compared to all the details that have been put into giving his hair texture. Perhaps more shading of the adding of wrinkles would make him see more three dimensional.
Other than that good job on this. I've been staring at Hojo's reflection and I'm not sure if I can see what was wrong with it. The only thing I can think of is that it should probably be more to the left, but I don't think that seems right either.
Either way all in all a good piece of fanart! ^_^
